Renew your .at domain: track the deadline, price and confirmation

How do you renew a .at domain at atdomain.at? Check the deadline in your account, budget for the total price and distinguish a request from a confirmed renewal.

The essentials

Open the domain in your account and check “Renew by” as well as its expiry date. Request renewal through the support contact link in good time and follow the response. Another year currently costs €15.99 total price. Automatic renewal and automatic card charging are currently inactive.

Treat renewal as a separate task. A calendar entry helps you check the displayed deadline and next steps in time.

1. Start with the correct domain in your account

Open your domain overview and select the complete name, including its extension. This matters when you have several similar addresses: renewing one variant does not automatically take care of the others. First decide whether you want to keep the domain and who will handle the task. A registered name needs ongoing attention after the website has launched. Record the domain, responsible person and next review date together. That keeps the task understandable when an agency only looks after the website or you return to the account after a long break.

2. Separate the renewal deadline from technical expiry

The domain details may show “Renew by” alongside “Expiry”. These are different fields: the renewal deadline can come before technical expiry. Do not wait for the later date before getting in touch. If a value is not available yet or the information seems unclear, ask support and include the exact domain name. A website that still opens does not establish an additional deadline. Record the displayed renewal date and allow enough time to resolve questions, without assuming a universal processing time. Check each domain separately rather than copying a date from another address.

3. Budget for renewal rather than the introductory price

A standard new .at domain currently costs €12.99 total price for the first year. Renewal at atdomain.at currently costs €15.99 total price for each additional year. The introductory price is therefore not the amount for every subsequent year. Renewing two existing .at domains for one year each would cost €31.98 total price at unchanged prices. Keep any additional services, such as an external mailbox or website operation, in a separate budget. Check the current total price and the response to your specific renewal enquiry before completing the steps described there.

4. Make the intended renewal request clear

The selected domain has a “Request renewal or cancellation” contact link. It opens an email enquiry and does not immediately renew the domain. State clearly that you want to renew, and include the exact domain and the deadline shown in your account. You can also contact support@atdomain.at. If several names are involved, list them individually. When a deadline is approaching, ask specifically which steps still need to be completed. Do not send passwords or card details by email. A precise enquiry reduces follow-up questions about spelling and which action you intend.

5. Distinguish sending a request from completing renewal

Read the response to your enquiry and complete the steps confirmed for your domain in good time. Automatic renewal and automatic card charging are currently inactive. A payment method used for the original registration therefore does not mean that the next renewal has already been paid for or initiated. Keep the response confirming completed renewal and compare the name and period with your own list. Ask for clarification if the status remains unclear or an expected confirmation is missing. Do not assume that every account field updates immediately, or that sending a message alone completes the process.

A request and a completed renewal are different steps. Keep the response and check what has been confirmed for your domain.

6. Keep your contact address and calendar up to date

You should be able to reach your account email even when the website is not working. After changing that address, check any required confirmation and review the spam folder occasionally. Reminders can help, but do not replace your own schedule. Use a clear calendar entry containing the domain name and responsible person. Protect the account and its mailbox with a strong, unique password for each; the Austrian ICT security portal also recommends password managers. If a payment message looks unclear, open your account through the familiar website and check the message before sharing information.

7. If you no longer want to keep the name

For .at, simply not paying does not automatically end the contractual relationship. The official domain information from nic.at explains this distinction too. Explicitly request cancellation when that is your intention, and obtain confirmation of the next steps and completion. A renewal enquiry is not the right instruction for that task. First check whether email addresses, redirects or published links still use the name. An unused homepage does not prove that nobody needs the address. Other extensions can have different rules, so do not apply this .at information to every domain without checking.

Make a specific cancellation request

8. A short check for each additional year

Keep a small record for every important address instead of relying on a single invoice or reminder. After confirmed completion, add the next review date and update the responsible person during a handover. Keep technical changes separate from renewal: editing DNS records does not resolve a question about the registration period. If you also need a new .at variant, check its availability and budget separately for its later renewals. atdomain.at provides domain registration, DNS management with the default nameservers and custom nameserver support; plan hosting and email mailboxes separately.

  • Record the exact domain and responsible person.
  • Check the account renewal deadline and resolve questions early.
  • Review the current total price and confirmed next steps.
  • Retain the completion confirmation and set the next review date.
