QR codes with your own domain: plan a .at address for printed materials

Read guide ↗An independent address for your holiday apartment: choose a .at domain, connect your website and booking route, and keep contacts, costs and seasonal handovers organised.
Your own .at domain gives your holiday apartment an address you can manage independently of a booking-profile link. The domain itself does not include an accommodation website, booking calendar or mailbox. First decide where guests should arrive, who will hold the domain and who will maintain it between seasons.

What should happen after someone opens your address? Returning guests might need directions, a family might want accommodation photographs, or someone might ask about available dates. Write down one main purpose before searching for a name. Austria’s business service portal likewise recommends defining goals, audiences and necessary functions before building a website. A single holiday apartment might need only a clear information page. Several units need an obvious distinction: guests should know which apartment they are viewing and whom to contact. A short address cannot replace that clarity.
Choose a domain for your project in AustriaStart by checking the house or accommodation name you actually use. If it is very general, a clear reference to the location may help guests distinguish different properties. Avoid a long string of accommodation keywords, regional names, facilities and superlatives. Say the name over the telephone and ask someone to write it without seeing it first. Could they find the address again after a conversation? Test it on a small business card too. Saying “with a hyphen” only helps if you then use that version consistently. An availability search does not automatically establish rights to a name.
See .at domains with transparent total pricesCompare spellings with and without hyphensYour domain is the address. The website presents your accommodation and contact options; a separately configured booking service can process enquiries or reservations. Decide explicitly between an enquiry you confirm later and a facility that makes a booking immediately binding. Label the relevant route clearly. If you also use other sales channels, establish with your booking system how available dates are coordinated. The domain does not synchronise calendars or prevent double bookings. Registration with atdomain.at also does not create a finished accommodation website. You can connect the domain to a suitable existing service that supports custom domains.
For international visitors, separate German and English content on the same domain can make sense. Plan which information must stay current in both languages: directions, key collection, facilities and the specific enquiry route. Switching languages should lead to the corresponding accommodation page rather than losing the selected apartment. Pay particular attention to the mobile layout because guests may open booking information or directions while travelling. A .at extension alone translates nothing and guarantees no search position. Helpful, accurate information remains essential. Before publication, also check that you may use your photographs and other material.
Plan several website languages on one domain
A standard new .at domain currently costs €12.99 total for the first year with us, followed by €15.99 total for each additional year. New .at domains also have a prepaid three-year option for a single €39.00 total payment: registration and two included annual renewals without further payment. This saves €5.97 against €44.97 through annual payments at today’s prices. The technical annual date updates as renewals occur; your account separately displays the full paid coverage. Afterwards, renewal uses the annual price offered then, with no automatic card charge. Hosting and mailboxes are not included.
Compare total prices and the prepaid packageOnce registration succeeds, manage the domain in your account. DNS with our default nameservers is included, and custom nameservers are also supported. Obtain the exact records from your existing website service and email service, if applicable. A working homepage does not prove an enquiry reaches the correct inbox. Test the whole guest journey yourself: open the site on a phone, select the right apartment, check the intended contact route and read its confirmation. Use a test procedure supported by your service. Check email sending and receiving separately if you have set up your own mailbox.
Check the website and email independentlyChoose a short, lasting address for printed information. W3C guidance recommends planning web addresses independently of later technical changes. For your accommodation, changing the calendar should not automatically require a new printed domain. Redirecting to a particular page needs a suitable configured web service; a DNS record alone does not provide that redirect. Test QR codes from the finished print proof. Do not use a private administration link or a short-lived booking confirmation as the public destination. When the destination changes, test older links from your welcome folder and guest information too.
Use your domain in QR codes and printed material
Decide who holds the domain, who can access the account and who reads renewal messages or required confirmations. A changing property-management service should not remain the only reachable contact. Record responsibilities without putting passwords in a shared guest folder. A new management arrangement and a legal change of domain holder are different matters. If ownership or the letting arrangement changes, settle the domain’s allocation explicitly. Avoid allowing the guest address to lapse merely because you are not taking bookings at the moment. A short pre-season review helps reveal outdated contact routes.

An English version does not automatically require another domain. Plan language URLs, complete pages and a useful language switch for your .at website.
